Wine Tasting Sessions

Whether you're a connoisseur or you simply want to expand your wine knowledge, enhance your stay at Grantley Hall with one of our immersive wine tasting sessions, hosted by our Head Sommelier. Each of the wine tasting sessions include a plate of charcuterie.

Around the World

£70 per person, approximately one hour long.

Discover a range of different wine styles and grape varieties. This tasting covers a diverse mix of classic and slightly off the beaten track wines, perfect if you want to learn more about wine or a fun alternative to a post lunch drink in the bar.

Explore New Horizons

From the lesser known corners of Europe, to new up and coming producers in the New World, you will work your way through an eclectic and unique selection of wines, proving that it is always worth exploring and to not be afraid of trying something new.

Uncork the Extraordinary

£165 per person, approximately one hour long.

Is France really home to the best sparkling wines? Compare Grand Marque Champagne against an up and coming sparkling wine producer. Are the finest red wines all from Bordeaux? Taste wines such as Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux against some of the best the rest of the world has to offer and decide for yourself.

Our wine tasting sessions are subject to availability at time of booking and unless a private session is specified at time of booking you may be joined by other guests wishing to enjoy the same experience. Enjoy the quintessential English game of croquet on our beautifully manicured West Lawns and breathe in the fresh Yorkshire air as you admire our stunning landscaped gardens.

Our Reception team will be on hand to explain the rules to you and provide you with the equipment; it's a lovely way to leisurely pass your afternoon at Grantley Hall.

Bike Hire

Explore some of the UK's most spectacular countryside on two wheels by hiring a Giant road or mountain bike.

Whether you choose the Giant Trance E+ 2 Pro electric mountain bike or the Giant Revolt Advanced 2 road bike, we have local bike routes to suit all abilities, which will help you make the most of your day on the bike. We also provide helmets for guests to ensure their safety.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Enjoy a session of clay pigeon for both novice and experienced shooters whilst in the beautiful surroundings of a prime Yorkshire shooting estate. All equipment provided.

Golf

Guests wishing to enjoy a round of golf during their stay can choose from a selection of local courses.

The closest golf course to the hotel is Ripon City Golf Club, which is located approximately five miles away and the course is a par 69 parkland course. We would be delighted to arrange tee times from a cost of £25.00* per round depending on the month of the year. Both trolleys and buggies are available to hire for an additional charge.

Rudding Park Golf Club, just outside of Harrogate, is a 30-minute drive from the hotel and offers both a par 72, 18-hole course and a par 18 six-hole short course. Prices start from £35.00* per round for the Hawtree Course. Please note the Hawtree Championship Course is a four-ball course only, so you may be paired with other golfers.

Alternatively, we also recommend Alwoodley Golf Course which is regarded as one of the finest inland courses in Britain and was designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, a renowned golf architect. Visitor day packages are available on Thursdays from May to October and include either a breakfast roll on arrival or a two-course lunch. Prices are from £205.00* per person. The course is located on the outskirts of Leeds and is a 40-minute drive from Grantley Hall.

Fly Fishing

At the Northern Fishing School, there's a fly-fishing experience for everyone - whether you're a beginner, a seasoned angler, or a business seeking a corporate day out. Marina Gibson and her team of certified fly-fishing guides and instructors will be by your side every step of the way.

Located on the stunning Swinton Estate, just a brief drive from Grantley Hall, the school has access to an array of lakes, rivers, and reservoirs where you can cast your line for salmon, trout, and grayling.
