Originally from Yorkshire, Shaun Rankin honed his skills at The Mayfair Hotel in London and attended the Thames Valley University at Slough. Shaun’s love of the sea then took him to the Channel Islands where he spent the majority his career residing in Jersey.

In 2003 he joined Bohemia restaurant as Head Chef, gaining his first Michelin star in 2005. Shaun opened his own highly-acclaimed restaurant, Ormer in 2013 in St Helier which was awarded its first Michelin star four months after opening, as well as receiving three AA rosettes a few months later.

Following his success in Jersey, Shaun returned to London where he opened Ormer Mayfair, as well as the restaurant at 12 Hay Hill, also located in London’s Mayfair.

Shaun has made numerous TV appearances including 2017 Masterchef UK when Ormer Mayfair was featured as a location for the programme.

Kitchen Table

The Kitchen Table is available for up to eight guests and is located at the heart of Shaun Rankin’s kitchen. With a dedicated front of house team and Head Sommelier, guests will be served an exclusive tasting menu by the Chefs who prepare each dish. A selection of wines carefully paired to accompany the exquisite food will complete this gastronomic journey.

Please note that guests are required to provide card details to secure their reservation. We are unable to accommodate guests who have not made prior reservations. For our hotel guests, we kindly ask that any cancellation to your reservation be made no less than 72 hours prior. For no shows or late cancellations, full payment will be applied to the credit card on file. For our non-resident guests, in the event of a cancellation within 14 days of the arrival date a cancellation charge at the full menu price will be applied. If we are able to resell the booking there will be no charge made to the card. No shows will be charged at 100% of the full menu price. 

We kindly ask that guests dress in a Smart/Casual dress code and strictly no trainers, jeans, shorts, t-shirts or flip-flops allowed. Children over the age of 12 are welcome to dine in Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall. 

Bookings are essential. Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall welcomes both hotel residents and non-residents.

Terms & Conditions

Before you book your reservation, please may we draw your attention to the following points. At Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, our ethos is championing our local Yorkshire produce and acting with sustainability and seasonality. The Taste of Home menu is prepared exclusively for you and your guest/s on the day of your visit. With this in mind, if you are the reservation holder, we require that you to let us know of any allergies or intolerances for yourself and for members of your party prior to your visit, with at least 72 hours notice. We will offer you the opportunity to inform us via the confirmation email you will receive upon making your reservation. Due to our daily preparation format, we regret to advise that we are unable to cater for any unannounced dietary requirements without the aforementioned detail and timescale. 

Aside from our regular Taste of Home Menu we are pleased to offer both Vegetarian and Pescatarian alternative menus. Please note that we do not offer a vegan menu or cater for any dislikes or dietary restrictions which we feel compromises our vision and style of the tasting menu. Should such a situation arise the dish will simply have to be missed or we will remove ingredients to the best of our ability. For dietary aversions due to religious reasons, we would recommend either our Vegetarian or Pescatarian menus.
