Five reasons for a winter wedding at Grantley Hall

What better location than to hold your glamorous winter wedding at Grantley Hall? This breathtakingly beautiful country estate, nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales has recently been crowned the Best Countryside Hotel UK & Ireland at the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2023 and not to mention being named AA Hotel of the Year England 2022-2023; making it the ultimate getaway and wedding location – regardless of the time of year.

However, whilst many of us choose to hold our nuptials in the height of the summer to make the most of the UK’s (hopefully) sunnier months, there are many benefits to having your wedding during the winter months at Grantley Hall.

Home to a variety of outstanding bars and restaurants, including Michelin-starred Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, an award-winning spa and cutting-edge gym facility, Grantley Hall is also home to a rather special late-night venue that makes for the ideal wedding after party place. Read on to find out more and to be inspired with winter wedding ideas for your upcoming day.

1. Glittering grounds

Set in 38 acres of stunning Yorkshire landscape, Grantley Hall and its grounds boast a Grade II listed Japanese Garden; built in 1910 this tranquil space was one of the first Japanese Gardens of its kind in the UK, along with its formal gardens, stepping stones and love island. All of which are ideal for wedding photography on the day. The rolling grounds are maintained year-round by a dedicated grounds team that ensure the gardens are looking picture perfect for every month of the year, whether that’s on a warm summer’s day, frosty morning or when there’s a thick layer of magical snow during the wintertime – again making your wedding photography stand out. The weather can of course tie into your overall theme to really make it a winter themed wedding. Think snowy scenes, frosty florals and cosy furs to decorate your wedding space to make your guests feel as though they are stepping into an ethereal winter wonderland.

3. Better winter wedding availability

One of the best benefits of having a winter wedding during the ‘off season’ period means that you tend to have a better pick of available wedding dates, rather than battling to secure the same Saturday in June that several other couples are hoping to have on their invitations. Grantley Hall’s busy wedding season, with guests booking dates two or three years in advance, means that you could be waiting a while for a summer date. However, a February wedding for example, especially around Valentine’s Day, would make the most romantic time of the year even more romantic!

4. The perfect wedding after party location

The jewel in Grantley Hall’s crown is Valeria’s Champagne & Cocktail Bar, the hotel’s glamorous late-night venue which has held many after parties for weddings and private events. The space is complete with a dancefloor, seating booths for guests to rest their feet after too much dancing, a circular bar in the centre, complete with a team of talented mixologists and a DJ booth to keep those winter wedding guests entertained throughout the night.
